October is the time most companies start planning the new hires they will need for the following year. This might be critical hires that need to start in January 2025.
 
More employers are introducing 3 month notice periods and many will be interviewing for those hires now - those who want January starters who aren’t interviewing will lose out on potential talent for their business.
 
This usually leads to an influx of positions around this time of year for some companies. Many of the big, exciting, 'new' roles are hired now, then in January it’s the back fill for all the people who have resigned as a result of securing roles now.
